El Paso Emergency Medical Services

October 3rd, 2009 1 comment

Just about two weeks ago, David Sharp who is a former coworker from El Paso Emergency Medical Services (EMS) hit me up on Facebook. That followed shortly thereafter by an invite from Janet Walker, who was the Operations Officer at the time I worked there. Then came word that a Ron Burchett, a former instructor of mine, passed away after battling cancer.

Those rapid contacts within a short period of time brought back a flood of memories of serving almost 9 years at El Paso EMS. As I sit here typing this out, I can look over the monitor and see the service plaque that I received when I resigned to take another job.

El Paso EMS will always hold a very dear place in my heart and mind for everything that I learned. I started working there in November 1989, when I was just 19 years old. To say the least, I was young and still had a lot to learn about life. If it were not for all the difficult lessons that I learned there, in addition to the wonderful supervisors and mentors that I had, I would not be where I am today.

Social Networking Sites

July 4th, 2009 Comments off

I joined two more social sites on Friday, one out of necessity and the other just because.

On Friday, I was trying to work with one of my professional groups to post a job opening on their website.  They responded that they were not offering that service any more and now were using a group on LinkedIn.  After giving it a couple minutes thought, I went ahead and created my profile so that I could upload my job opening.

Friday evening, while sitting around eating and drinking with friends, the topic of social networking sites came up.  On the spur or the moment, and using just my smart phone, I managed to create a Facebook profile.

My next step, trying to make sure I can link up these and the other four social networking sites that I am on, not including my personal blog.
