Yvette by Any Other Name
Yesterday, the conversation topic came up about how I mispronounce Yvette’s name.
This wasn’t new to me and it’s been a topic of conversation in the past. Yvette states that even her mom questioned her the first time she heard me speak Yvette’s name while we were dating.
Yvette, and her mom, believes that her name should be spoken as Evette, with a strong E. While I have always spoken her name as Yavette.
I tried using Google Translate to support my position, but it sounds more like a combination of Evette and Yavette.
I tried pronouncing her name as Evette, but it’s not natural to me. It doesn’t bother Yvette that I speak her name differently and she has never asked me to change. She recognizes it’s just the way I am.
She’ll be happy regardless of whether I call her Yavette, sweetie or my love.

Well I prefer sweetie or Angel or gracious gift of God, but the way you speak my name is different, special & unique. Just like our love or how and what you mean to me. Eric i luv you un chingo!
